District 50 Toastmasters hosted a Toastmasters Demo Meeting at PERFORMANCE PIPELINING, INC., a Chevron Phillips Chemical Company on Thursday, January 30th, at 2:00 PM in Plano, Texas.
This event introduced employees and guests to the benefits of public speaking, communication, and leadership development.
The meeting was hosted by Jack Xie, Strategic Growth Manager at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, with Rhonda Bunte, DTM, Club Growth Director for District 50 Toastmasters, leading the coordination.
The agenda included:
✔ Prepared Speech: “Life Finds a Way” by Yujun Liang, TC4
✔ Table Topics: A fun impromptu speaking session led by Jessica Beard, TM
✔ Speech Evaluations and Functionary Reports, M J Presley, DTM
✔ Overview of Toastmasters and a Q&A Session
Chevron Phillips employees and invited guests gained valuable insights into how Toastmasters International helps individuals improve public speaking, develop leadership skills, and grow their professional presence.
What’s in a word?

This week’s Word of the Week is Resonant: Adjective. Definition: Deep, clear, and continuing to sound or have an impact; emotionally or intellectually powerful. In a sentence: “Her speech was so resonant that the audience was left inspired and motivated to take action.”
Challenge: Toastmasters, your mission this week is to incorporate “resonant” into your speeches, Table Topics, and conversations! Whether you’re delivering a powerful message or describing something that leaves a lasting impact, make your words resonate with those around you.
It’s a busy time…
February is the beginning of our busy season. We have contests starting on the 22nd, the last TLI is the 15th, our future District Leaders will be nominated by our District Leadership Committee soon, and that is just what is in February. Before we know it, it will be our annual conference and when I say it’s going to be amazing, trust that you are going to bloom with joy and grow in learning with what is in store for us this year! We are so lucky and blessed to have this community of members and friends who never cease inspiring, caring, and being there for others. There is something for everyone within our District. I am especially thrilled to know that the Youth Leadership Conference will be coming back and held in a new location. If you have ever heard an elementary, middle, or high school student give a speech, you won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to volunteer, open your hearts, and your minds and enter into a world of our future leaders and members of our communities. Until next Wednesday, stay safe, stay warm, and stay committed!
D50 is on the RISE!
