Metrocrest Toastmasters was chartered in 1977. Give them a round of applause. The history of their club has a lot to offer. If your club has a need, perhaps they have some advice to pass along.
Yvonne Broach, the current club Vice President of Education, has been in the club for about three years. She wants to be a member because of, “the camaraderie, can-do spirit of the club, everyone is so good-humored and positive.”
Ken Miller, current club Vice President of Membership, has been a member for seven years. He has also served the club in many other officer roles. He says, “I enjoy the friendships that I have made with other members. I feel that I’m always going to learn something new that can help me improve my leadership and communication skills.”
According to Ken, the club’s longevity is because “We have some members who have been with the club for 20 plus years. Having a stable core group of members has helped us get through difficult times (think pandemic). This provided a basis to grow and attract new members.”
“We visit with each other before and after the meetings while eating at the restaurant,” Yvonne says. “The club members are positive and encouraging.”
They conduct regular club meetings in New New Buffet located at 3822 Belt Line Road in Addison on Tuesdays from noon to 1:00 PM. If you are interested, you may connect with Ken Miller at kmintx1515@gmail.com or by phone at 214-968-1462.
