Executive Toastmasters Club was chartered in 1955. They’ve seen many changes both inside and outside of Toastmasters. Perhaps they have some advice to pass along to Toastmasters in other clubs. Share a shout and some applause.
Aundrea Payne, current club President, became a member in 2008 because of their love for creativity, different viewpoints, and diversity. Louis Covington, current club Vice President of Membership, is a three-year veteran via Zoom. He finds the club superbly professional, with businesslike meetings with a fun vibe that encourages members’ personal growth.
Aundrea attributes the club’s longevity to, “Pride in carrying on the legacy. Fulfillment in being a club member.” Louis says their success is because of, “Exceptionally well-run meetings, fun, long-term leadership combined with the development of future leaders, thoroughly organized with formal agendas.”
“We usually hold a Christmas and a summer party each year. We’ve also had bowling events and speech-a-thons. Each Thanksgiving and Christmas, we hold special meetings,” according to Aundrea. “An article about ETM would not be complete without mentioning the Chickification of America speech by Wade Wimbish and Lynn Shevack’s rebuttal speech given the following week. Great fun!”
They conduct a regular club meeting at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesdays via ZOOM and in person at Awake Restaurant on Knoll Trail Drive in Dallas, Texas. Visitors are welcome. They’d love for you to check them out. For Zoom information, please contact Louis Covington via email at, vpm-1783@toastmastersclubs.org.
