The Road to Distinguished
District 50 continues to RISE! We have reinstated a club bringing our base clubs up from 119 to 120! This is fantastic and shows that there is an appetite for Toastmasters in our District community. We also have increased our paid clubs from 104 to 108. This means we have some clubs that are working hard to get membership increased and holding open houses to help in this area. Thank you to everyone who continues to promote our amazing District and the members within! Let’s keep going!

We have a Podcast!
Did you know that District 50 is home to the podcast “D50 After Dark”? We have Toastmasters who produce a Podcast and promote it on Spotify, Facebook and are committed to spreading the word about Toastmasters in so many different ways. The team has done 22 episodes to date. Recently, the team interviewed Club Growth Director, Rhonda Bunte. In another episode, we were introduced to Program Quality Director, Denise Castille and her story of a life changing event. You can also discover how community leader and Toastmaster, Victor Johnson empowers youth from diverse backgrounds through public speaking and communication skills. You don’t want to miss these engaging and thought provoking interviews. You can get these podcasts and more by simply visiting the D50 After Dark Podcast page on Spotify.
Special thanks to the D50 After Dark team:

Give back and help our Youth in Rotary
Every year, District 50 has the opportunity to support the Plano Rotary Youth Speech Contest. We are being invited again, by fellow District 50 Toastmaster and Rotarian, John Caldwell who is the Team Lead. This year, they have higher registrations than in previous years and they need our help to support and judge these bright and upcoming youth! I have had the privilege to judge and to listen to these youth and their passions, it is extremely moving and inspiring. I hope that you will say yes and take this opportunity to help and give back with your expertise in speaking. Please volunteer. You can reach out to John Caldwell, D50 Toastmaster and member of Metrocrest at 972-948-4883 or email johnrcaldwell@verizon.net
There are 3 ways to support.
Online Judging: starts March 27th (you can judge from the comforts of home)
Club Finals in person, Saturday morning, April 12 in Downtown Plano
District finals, Saturday morning, April 19, in west Plano
What’s in a word?
This week’s Word of the Week is Altruism: Noun. Definition: The selfless concern for the well-being of others; putting others’ needs before your own. In a sentence: “Her act of altruism—volunteering every weekend at the shelter—brought smiles to so many faces.” Challenge: Use “altruism” in your speeches and conversations! Let this word inspire you to practice selflessness, especially during this season of giving. Whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or an act of generosity, let your altruism shine.
