What’s in a word?
This week’s Word of the Week is resplendent: Adjective. /rəˈsplend(ə)nt/ Definition: Resplendent means shining brilliantly, radiant, or full of splendor. In a sentence: “The sunset was so resplendent that it took everyone’s breath away.” Challenge: Throughout your speeches and conversations this week, try to incorporate “resplendent” in creative ways!
Speechcraft
Texas Dragons will be hosting a Speechcraft September 28 – November 16. All 8 Speechcraft meetings will be held in person at the UTD campus. They have 10 Speechcrafters and they are in need of a couple of extra evaluators. This is an opportunity to experience a beautifully run program as well as help out a fellow club with evaluating future Toastmasters members. If you are interested in helping them with an evaluation, you can fill out this interest form.
The Road to Distinguished
The Toastmasters year is in full swing. We have the summer TLI under our belts, Area Directors are out visiting our clubs. We are working on understanding how your clubs are doing and practicing feedback. The District Council has met and approved the appointed roles, end of year audit, as well as the District Budget. The Trio is finalizing our District Success Plan where we are clear with our intention to become a Distinguished District. We will need everyone’s help in getting there. We have trained 85% of our Division Directors, submitted our Communication and Marketing Plan and our Budget to Toastmasters International. We are on our way and this goal is within our reach. This District’s strength is within our members. Thank you for leaning in. Thank you for renewing your dues and getting your levels accomplished. We are excited to see you all become a Distinguished Club! Let’s go!
TOASTY REGARDS!
Kimberly Ross, DTM
District 50, District Director
