What’s in a word?
This week’s Word of the Week is Jolly: Adjective. Definition: Full of high spirits or delight; cheerful and lively.
In a sentence: “The team worked in perfect harmony to create an unforgettable event. The audience erupted into jolly laughter as the speaker shared a humorous story. Her jolly demeanor made everyone feel at ease during the meeting.”
Challenge: Throughout your meetings, find opportunities to incorporate jolly into your speeches, evaluations, or table topics. Whether you’re describing the atmosphere of a story, someone’s personality, or even the holiday spirit, let the word jolly bring a cheerful tone to your language! Let’s make it a jolly Toastmasters meeting!
Hustle and Bustle
This time of year, there is so much “more”. More traffic, more trips to the grocery store to prepare for company, and the various dishes and meals we’re cookin’ up. More mail, more people in our homes, and sometimes, less time to get it all done. At one of my club meetings this week, there was more laughter than we’ve had in a long time and had more guests, and I got to really connect with someone who is brimming with excitement and a zest for their future. I love these organic moments that are authentic, real, and inspiring. My hope for you is to look for those glimmers, soak in the scenery that you get to experience, and find those moments of joy, fun, and laughter, and that you have the very best as the 2024 year comes to a close.
Sending you holiday cheer,
Kimberly Ross, DTM
