Richardson Evening Toastmasters was chartered in 1958: almost sixty-five years. They must have interesting stories to share along with advice for other clubs. Consider a visit with them for your education and amusement.
Rob Murphy, the current club President, has been in the club for about a year. He wants to be a member because of the “personal growth and the friends he’s met.” David Reazin, the current Vice President of Education, has been a member for five years and held various officer roles in the club.
According to Ron, the club continues strong because of a “Commitment to personal growth, dedicated officers, and the fun we have at our meetings. We have monthly socials.”
“Our camaraderie, safe space to grow, and the fun we have,” make our club unique. “We have fun while we personally grow,” Ron adds.
“The club has been able to evolve to best meet the needs of club members. The club offers a safe learning environment, members have stepped up to take on leadership roles, and new visitors are joining the club. Club members are giving speeches and working through the various levels of their Pathway Program,” David says.
David believes that the club’s longevity can be attributed to, “The club conducts a social dinner outing the last Tuesday of the month in place of our regular meetings. These outings allow members to get to know one another in a more relaxed social setting and we also do a round of Table Topics.”
They conduct regular club meetings at The Drawing Board at 1900 Jay Ell Drive in Richardson on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. You may also join them via Zoom as their meetings are in the hybrid form. If you are interested, you may connect with them via the Club President, Rob Murphy, at rmurphy@sunlifehomecare.com or by phone at 520-403-4724. Their website is richardson.toastmastersclubs.org.
