Youth Leadership Summit 2025

The Toastmasters Youth Leadership Summit is an event designed to empower young people (ages 10-18) with essential communication, leadership, and personal development skills. The summit offers a series of interactive workshops led by experienced speakers, leaders, and professionals from the community who are passionate about helping kids elevate their public speaking skills and preparing them for their future. These workshops aim to help youth build confidence, improve public speaking abilities, and enhance leadership qualities. Register soon – spots will fill up quickly! Registration ends April 18th.

Keynote Speaker – Denise Castille
Kick off the day with a warm welcome to the 2025 Youth Leadership Summit! Our keynote speaker, Denise Castille, will inspire and motivate you with her powerful message on leadership, confidence, and the power of effective communication. After her speech, get ready to dive into a day full of engaging workshops designed to boost your public speaking skills, help you become a better leader, and have fun with new friends. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience—let’s get started!
10:15 AM – 10:25 AM- Breakout Sessions
10:25 AM – 11:15 AM- (Parents) Introduction to Toastmasters – Led by Bala Subramanium
Parents will learn about Toastmasters and how to support their children in developing public speaking and leadership skills. They will also learn about Gavel Clubs, which provide a fun and supportive environment for kids to continue practicing their public speaking skills with peers. This session will offer valuable insights and resources to help both parents and children thrive in their speaking journey.
10:25 AM – 11:15 AM- (Group A) Unstoppable Confidence: Speaking Up and Standing Out – Led by Victor Johnson
In this session, students will learn how to speak confidently and share their ideas with others. Mentors help students find their unique voice, express themselves clearly, and have fun while building their public speaking and leadership skills!
10:25 AM – 11:15 AM- (Group B) Thinking on Your Feet: Mastering Impromptu Speaking – Led by DaWane Wanek
Students take part in fun group activities that help them think on their feet and speak confidently, even when asked to talk without much preparation!
11:15 AM – 12:25 PM-(Combined) Stress Less, Live More – Mental Health Strategies for Teens – Led by Britni Canon
Students will discover simple and effective tips to manage stress and stay calm, even in challenging situations. They will learn how to handle pressure and stay focused, helping them feel more confident and in control.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM- Lunch
Joe’s Pizza will be provided. Participants will have the opportunity to join in a high-energy session in the courtyard, led by renowned wellness coach Olivia Ibezim. Get moving, have fun, and enjoy a great workout while learning some exciting dance moves!
1:10 PM – 2:00 PM- Briefing for Speech Contestants – Bala Subramanium
Students taking part in the International Speech Contest will work with a Toastmaster mentor to polish their speeches and get fully prepared for the competition.
1:10 PM – 2:00 PM- (Parents) Table Topics and Impromptu Speaking – Led by Hitesh Bhalala
Parents will explore the art of impromptu speaking through Table Topics. This session will provide strategies to help you think quickly and speak confidently on any topic, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively in everyday situations.
1:10 PM – 3:30 PM- (Middle & High School) Interviewing Skills Get Hired: Mastering Interviews & Resumes: Crafting Your Path to Success – Led by Nabintu Bates, Tinika Draper, & Marisa Perez
Middle and high school students will learn essential tips for excelling in interviews and creating standout resumes. This session includes mock interviews with Human Resources professionals, giving students hands-on experience in answering common interview questions with confidence. They will also learn how to craft a resume that stands out, setting them up for success in the future.
1:10 PM – 2:00 PM- (Group B) Public Speaking for Social Media Platforms: Engaging a Digital Audience – Led by Sherry Satya Sutton
In this session, students will learn how to speak confidently and connect with an audience online! They’ll explore how to use social media platforms to share their ideas and messages, with tips on keeping their audience engaged through video, livestreams, and more. Get ready to learn how to rock your online presence!
1:10 PM – 2:00 PM- (Group B) Using Humor to Rock Your Speech – Led by DaWane Wanek
In this session, students will discover how to add fun and laughter to their speeches! They’ll learn how to use jokes and humor to connect with their audience, making their speeches more enjoyable and memorable. It’s all about using humor to boost your confidence and make your message stand out!
2:10 PM – 3:00 PM- (Group A) Feedback Circles: Giving and Receiving Constructive Criticism – Led by Mohit Goyal
In this session, students will learn how to give and receive helpful feedback in a positive way. Through fun group activities, they’ll practice offering suggestions to others and learn how to use feedback to improve their own skills.
2:10 PM – 3:00 PM- (Group A) Hook, Line, and Sinker: How to Grab the Audience Attention – Led by Divya Nethi & Kendall Jones
In this session, students will learn how to start their speeches with a powerful hook that grabs their audience’s attention right from the beginning. They’ll also discover how to end with a strong conclusion that leaves a lasting impression. With fun activities and tips, students will learn how to make their speeches exciting and memorable from start to finish!
2:10 PM – 4:00 PM- Speech Contest – Head Judge Bala Subramanium
Students who have prepared their speeches will take the stage to present in the Speech Contest! It’s a chance to showcase everything they’ve learned, share their ideas, and show off their public speaking skills in front of judges and their peers. Prizes will be awarded during the closing ceremony. Get ready for some inspiring speeches and fun competition!
3:10 PM – 4:30 PM- Public Speaking Fun & Games – Learn Through Play
In this session, students will play fun games like Human Bingo, Public Speaking Jeopardy, and create vision boards! These interactive activities are designed to help you practice your public speaking skills while having a blast with your friends. You’ll learn new tips, challenge yourself, and build confidence—all while playing games!
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM- Judging
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM- Awards Ceremony & Closing Remarks – Led by Hitesh Bhalala
We will celebrate all the hard work and achievements during our Awards Ceremony! Students will be recognized with certificates, and we’ll honor the winners of the International Speech contest and activities. We will finish the day with some closing words, reflecting on the progress everyone has made and looking forward to the exciting next steps in their public speaking journey!
