Distinguished Clubs Wanted
What are your club’s goals this year? A sign of a healthy district are our clubs and how they are doing. Throughout the year, clubs, officers, and members get to participate in events throughout the District. Will your club be Distinguished? To be a Distinguished club in the 2024 – 2025 Toastmasters year you will need to have:
- A base of 20 members -OR- +3 members from your base, if under 20 members
- Have 5 DCP points through achieving education levels, adding new members, and attending TLI training (clubs who achieve 7 or 9 DCP points can earn the Select Distinguished and President’s Distinguished titles)
- Be a club in good standing
Set your sights on being Distinguished or higher and be a club that is on the RISE!
Newly Minted
Becoming a Distinguished Toastmaster is a well earned honor and title in our organization. Until this past month, we have had 2 members… Please help me congratulate last year’s Heart of the District recipient, Distinguished Toastmaster, David Dunn!!
Become a Distinguished Toastmaster!
Are you interested in learning more about how you can become a Distinguished Toastmaster? Advanced Club, Super DTMs has a meeting this Thursday, November 14th on Zoom. Would you like to attend and hear how you can take your Toastmasters journey to another level? Email Kellie McMaster at mcmastkj@gmail.com for the Zoom details.
Explore the New Base Camp!
I did a speech this past week and filled out the evaluation form in the new Base Camp. I selected my evaluator, and gave the specifics of my speech. It then was delivered via email to her, so she could have all of the information to introduce me properly. Even better, once she filled out the form and completed my evaluation, it was sent back to me, to file away and review in the future. You still can check it out with the Base Camp User Guide and the Base Camp Manager Guide.

What’s in a word?
This week’s Word of the Week is Hodgepodge: Noun. Definition: A mixture of different things, a jumble or assortment that comes together in a unique way. In a sentence: “Every time I share stories with my friends, it becomes a hodgepodge of laughter, memories, and ideas. It’s like mixing bits of the past with moments of inspiration and learning!”
Challenge: Toastmasters, bring a hodgepodge of creativity to your speeches this week! Whether you’re sharing stories, describing ideas, or weaving together different experiences, embrace the unique mix that makes your story memorable.
Go Get ‘Em – 100s of Ideas!!
Here are 5 fresh NEW ideas that you can use and bring to your club! If any of these work for you, we want to hear about it!
Have a family and friends meeting
Consider using Eventbrite, Meetup, Facebook, LinkedIn or other social media apps to promote your clubs meetings and events.
Send out press releases on your activities. **Don’t be discouraged if it takes a while to be noticed. (small community newspapers are likely to give you the best coverage.
Send personal notes to members that you haven’t seen for a while and let them know how much you’ve missed them and would love to have them back.
Share on social media the election of new club officers, and the benefits they will gain from serving at the club level.
We Learn Best in Moments of Enjoyment – Ralph C. Smedley
So often, we’re so busy getting to our destination, or worrying about the “what ifs” or the “I’ll do _ once I have done __” and we miss out. I am guilty of this, quite often. This year so far has been one of growth for me both personally, professionally, and Toastmasterly. You see, I have been enjoying the journey that I am on, and what I know is I am on this path of being in the moment, and learning through having fun and joy, with you. Don’t wait to go to a meeting, or take a role. Don’t wait to say yes to doing a contest speech, say yes to volunteering, and look for those moments of joy, and watch just how much fun, and learning can take place in your life!
