11K Toastmasters Club was chartered in 1976. They’ve seen many changes both inside and outside of Toastmasters. Perhaps they have some advice to pass along to Toastmasters in other clubs. Share a shout and some applause.
Arthur Hinojosa, current club Vice President of Education, in his second term, has also been the club’s President. He has been a member of the club for three years. He did so because he wanted to be a better communicator and leader. Rebecca Smith, the current club Vice President of Membership, has been in that role for four years. She became a member, “To be a better speaker, increase my confidence speaking in public, make friends, and I have always wanted to join Toastmasters.”
According to Arthur, the club’s longevity is because of the support of the senior leadership. Becky feels that it is because of the active members and fun meetings. She says, “We order treats for meetings, celebrate accomplishments, and people leaving the Bank to go on to bigger and better adventures.”
“We are supported by the Bank as part of the mission to Attract, Develop, and Retain,” according to Becky. “Our club is very diverse and has good support from senior leaders, many of whom were once a part of the club,” Arthur adds.
They conduct regular club meetings on the second Wednesday and fourth Thursday of each month at noon. 11K Toastmasters is a closed, corporate club open only to Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas employees. If you are qualified and interested, you may connect with Becky Smith at becky.smith@dal.frb.org.
