Candidates for District Director

Manuel ‘Manny’ Garcia, DTM

Who is Manuel “Manny” Garcia? A native of Belize who immigrated to the US with a passion for learning, growing, and seeing others surpass their true potential.

Your greatest achievement as a Toastmaster? My single greatest achievement is “trusting the process”. I’ve grown through each and every leadership role I’ve held in District 50, I look forward to continuing in my growth journey and showing others to do the same!

What will I do if elected 2023-2024 D50 District Director? I will lead with LESS drama, More FUN, LESS politics, and More GROWTH! Let’s do it together!

Kellie McMaster, DTM

A Toastmaster since February 2013, Kellie is a member of her home club, Tyler Evening Toastmaster in Tyler TX. She is also a member of three Advanced Clubs: Confident Leaders, Super DTMs, and Tyler Advanced Toastmasters. She has held several leadership positions and is now the Club Growth Director of District 50. Kellie has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation—the highest level of educational achievement in the organization.

She says, “Growth in confidence is the biggest gift I have received in Toastmasters. I have been able to compete in contests, speak on stage, and help others achieve their goals because of the confidence I gained in Toastmasters.”

As the Club Growth Director for District 50, her role is to support all members and clubs to Grow their Potential and to build new clubs. It is truly a privilege to serve the members of District 50.


Candidate for Program Quality Director

Kimberly ‘Kim’ Richards, TC5, IP5, EH3, SR2

A Toastmaster member since January 2018, Kimberly Richards has held every officer role as well as: Area Director, D50 Chief of Staff to the District Director, and Plains Division Director. Kim has a passion for people, collaborating with others and has a succinct communication style. She was a part of the team that rolled out the Discord communication platform as well as key CTO initiatives.

Her 2 favorite roles have been being the Chief of Staff and the Plains Division Director. Teaming with the other 5 Division Directors has been a joy like no other as they all lead with heart, integrity, and their strengths.

In her professional role, Kimberly is a Sales Enablement Program Manager and Trainer. She loves to run trainings, panel discussions, coach sales leaders and sellers and partners with others throughout the organization.

As PQD, Kimberly can’t wait to tackle Contests, TLI, Youth Programs, Conference and other Education focuses with our District 50 Members and Leaders. Kim is eager to see what we can accomplish when we all come together for a common goal and a little bit of fun, thrown into the mix!

Denise Castille, DTM

Who is Denise Castille? I am a Daughter, a Sister, an Aunt, Friend, Distinguished Toastmaster, 2020-2021 Heart of D50 Recipient, Quality Education Chair (not once but twice!), a Published Author, Business Owner, and Founder/Executive Director of a Non-Profit.

Fun fact about me: I can’t wait to do my first stand-up comedy routine.

What will I do if elected 2023-2024 D50 Club Growth Director? I will lead District 50 with LESS drama, More FUN, LESS politics, and More GROWTH! Together we can be the ripple that makes a wave! #BeTheRipple

Leslie Gibeault, DTM

Leslie Gibeault has been a passionate Toastmaster since joining in 2018 when she helped charter her home Club. Since that time, she has joined 2 additional clubs including an advanced club and held many roles both within the club and the district level including VP Education, Club President, Area 64 Director, and Admin Manager. Additionally, this year, she had the opportunity to work closely with the current Club Growth Director as the Strategy & Analytics Chair where she planned and coordinated the district’s networking events and new club demo meetings.

In her professional career she has vast knowledge in process improvement, project management, risk assessment, procedure documentation and leadership. Her current role in Business Controls requires her to cross-collaborate with all levels of management and to lead by influence.

Leslie is passionate about new ideas and enjoys open dialog. She is excited to develop a strategic team who will build new clubs and work on strengthening our current clubs.

M J Presley, DTM

M J Presley, DTM

M J is an active member of District 50.

He has been a member since 2008. Over the years, he has served every officers role in his clubs. His favorite is SAA. He has been a member in 9 different clubs. He has been a member in 5 clubs in one year at the same time. M J has been an Area Governor.

He has been D50 SAA. He has also served as the district Logistics Manager.

He has been on the District stage in Tall Tales, Humorous Speech, and International Speech.

It would be safe to say M J is a has been.

Rhonda Bunte is the District 50 (D50) Club Retention/Coach Chair where she partners experienced Toastmasters with struggling clubs. She also serves as a club coach. As D50 Chief Judge for July 2021 through June 2022, she trained and empowered D50 members as judges and chief judges to judge contests and maintain contest integrity. She served as Area 51 Director 2020/2021.

Ms. Bunte received the Award for Immediate Past President January through June 2019 and Excellence Award for Chief Judge. She was a finalist in 2019 District Evaluation Contest. She has served in numerous club officer positions since 2002.

Plains Division candidate

Brian Doan is an accomplished Engineering Director with expertise in IOT product development and supply chain. He joined Toastmasters in 2015 and has since risen to the top, currently holding the EH5 and SR5 education levels.

Brian has served as an officer for various clubs and was the Area 75 director last year, showcasing his leadership abilities. Along with his professional accomplishments, Brian also enjoys spending time with his fiancé, as well as his dog and cat.

He has called Dallas home for 13 years and loves everything about the city. Brian strives to continuously improve himself and his leadership skills, which he believes will help him contribute positively to the Toastmasters community.

Sarfaraz Nazir, world-renowned keynote speaker, trainer, and consultant, is a five-time DTM. He joined Toastmasters in July 1993. He is a three-time World Championship of Public Speaking Semifinalist where he took second place twice.

He completed all 11 TM education pathways in 18 months. He has served as D50 Area Director, twice. He was a speaker at the TM annual convention in San Diego. He was named District 25 Toastmaster of the Year.

He received the American Society for Training & Development’s Professional Excellence award. He is co-author of Go Ahead and Laugh: A Serious Guide to Using Humor in Speeches.

Hello all! My name is Akash Navneeth, and I am the nominated candidate for the role of Town North Division Director for the 2023-24 Toastmasters year. I started my Toastmasters journey with the University Toastmasters of Dallas in October 2021. Furthermore, I have served as the Treasurer and then as the President of the University Toastmasters of Dallas. In addition, I currently serve as the Area 65 Assistant Director.

Throughout my tenure, I have received guidance from many of my fellow Toastmasters in District 50 to the point that I have served as a Contest Master for Area & Division Contests in the Fall of 2022, the Registration Chair for the Fall 2022 Summit, and Master Contest Chair for the Youth Leadership Summit.

Being able to grow my potential has been a privilege with District 50 Toastmasters, and I feel that it’s time for me to give back to you all and support D50 as the Town North Division Director for the upcoming year to make District 50 Strong for the foreseeable future.

District 50 Leadership – Call for Nominations

The District Leadership Committee (DLC) announced in Fall 2022 the call for Nominations for District Leadership for the year 2023 – 2024. We are pleased to announce that the DLC completed candidate interviews in February.  The Chair for the District Leadership Committee is Monica Dirden, DTM.

The purpose of this District is to enhance the quality and performance and extend the network of the member clubs of Toastmasters International within the boundaries of this District, thereby offering greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program by:

  • Focusing on the critical success factors as specified by the District educational and membership goals.
  • Ensuring that each club effectively fulfills its responsibilities to its individual members.
  • Providing effective training and leadership development opportunities for Club and District officers.

District 50 Area Director Applications

Develop your leadership skills as an Area Director, the direct liaison between the District and the clubs. Apply now for 2023 – 2024 appointed positions.  An Area Director supports 3 – 5 clubs within a Division.  Area Directors conduct club visits at least twice a year within their respective areas to understand and support club needs. In turn, these visits help District leaders understand how to support and meet the needs of each club.

  • Our club is rich with former, current and aspiring Toastmaster leaders, including district directors. We naturally focus on leadership. Thirty minutes is reserved at our meetings for discussion or a debate on topics related to leadership.

Park Central Toastmasters

  • Park Central offers 43 years of experience, excellence and Toastmasters educational programming to help support our members’ goals. We achieve this through our unique meeting format focused on providing members up to six opportunities to give formal speeches.
  • When: We meet online by Zoom the third Sunday of each month, 1:00 to 3:00pm 
  • A typical Park Central monthly program includes four to six prepared 5 - 7 minute speeches:
    • First speech focuses on “Tips on Excellence”
    • Two more speeches from Pathways program
    • One Pathways editorial speech which expresses an opinion
    • One Pathways rebuttal speech which expresses an opposing view to the editorial speech. The rebuttal speech is prepared after hearing the editorial speech with often only FIVE minutes to prepare. This can challenge the most experienced Toastmaster! It is a little scary!
    • Evaluations for each prepared speech:   The Evaluations given at the club are motivating, effective, and balanced.

Let's Talk Club

  • We are the enhanced advanced club. We can mentor Toastmasters on an array of speaking and leadership skills. Examples are creating and delivering speeches, impromptu speaking (We have an Impromptu Speech Contest most years.), evaluations, anything related to speech contests, TLI training, one-on-one mentoring, and many more areas.
